Pesquisar é realmente um trabalho difícil, pois exige daquele que executa a investigação uma
postura que move valores e aspirações. Quando iniciei o desenvolvimento da pesquisa em comunidades
de quilombos, executei uma análise reflexiva sobre o que pretendia alcançar com esta produção, ou seja,
houve um questionamento sobre qual seria o principal objetivo deste trabalho, cujo tema centra-se nos
estudos das comunidades de quilombos de Irará, no estado da Bahia. Neste processo, articulei os
seguintes questionamentos: O que são valores? Como os valores científicos são formados? Quais são os
valores dos sujeitos que moram comunidades quilombolas? Como entender a formação histórica dos
valores dos povos que residem em comunidades tradicionais? Como podemos explicar as contradições
que surgem entre os valores científicos e valores locais? Qual relação a ciência estabelece com o saber
local de comunidades tradicionais? Dava-me conta de que, além de apresentar um ponto-de-vista sobre a
temática, teria de defendê-lo, expondo com precisão os motivos que induziram tal opinião. Portanto,
compreendei que a lógica de uma etnografia tem muito a ver com a construção de um estudo teórico de
natureza reflexiva que consiste na ordenação de idéias sobre um determinado tema, mas que se aproxima
de valores, tradicões e necessidades reais dos sujeitos pesquisados.

To search is really a difficult work. It demands of that executes the inquiry position that
moves values and aspirations. When I initiated the development of the research in communities of
quilombos, I executed a reflexive analysis on what it intended to reach with this production, that is, had a
questioning on which would be the main objective of this work, whose subject is centered in the studies
of the communities of quilombos of Irará, in the state of the Bahia. In this process, I articulated the
following questionings: What they are values? How the scientific values are formed? Which are the
values of the citizens that communities live quilombolas? How to understand the formation historical of
the values of the peoples who inhabit in traditional communities? How we can explain the contradictions
that appear between the scientific values and local values? What relation science establishes with
knowing place of traditional communities? It gave account to me of that, beyond presenting one point-ofsight
on the thematic one, it would have to defend it, displaying with precision the reasons that had
induced such opinion. Therefore, I will understand that the logic of etnografy has much to see with the
construction of a theoretical study of reflexive nature that consists of the ordinance of ideas on one
determined subject, but that it is come close to values, traditions and real necessities of the searched
citizens.
