A Ciência da Religião está indubitavelmente no olho do furacão na
guerra entre ciências e religião. Ela mesma encontra-se cindida e confusa
em uma dualidade de posicionamento. De um lado é e quer ser Ciência da
Religião (sistemática) e está em franco contato com a filosofia e a teologia. De
outro é Ciências da Religião, agregado de disciplinas que buscam objetividade
e cientificidade em seu discurso. Ambos os lados sofrem com a indefinição
quanto à s perguntas tÃpicas da área: A religião pode ser objeto de um estudo
cientÃfico? Que tipo de estudo deveria ser este? Ele pode ameaçar ou depende
da Teologia? Além de vislumbrar o seu “estado da arte†no Brasil, pretendemos
sugerir novos aportes ao campo.
Resumo Inglês:
The Science of Religion is certainly in the epicenter of the war between
science and religion. It exists itself in a confusing and broken duality of position.
On one side it wants to be a systematical Science in close contact with philosophy and theology. On the other hand, it is and wants to be a bunch of social sciences
that seek objectivity to its discourse by cutting its bounds to theology. Both
sides suffer with their difficult to answer fundamental questions: May religion
be object of scientific research? What kind of study must it be? It threats or
depends on theology? Besides having a glimpse of its “state of arts†in Brazil,
we intend to suggest some new perspectives to the field.
