O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar as mudanças no imaginário regional a respeito do “verde” expressos em dois jornais: O Jornal de Maringá-PR, entre 1954 e 1969, e a Tribuna do Interior de Campo Mourão-PR, entre 1970-2000. Foi identificado que, na segunda metade do século XX, tem-se duas fases na forma de apresentar o “verde” nos jornais estudados. Até finais da década de 1970, havia um discurso de “civilizadores” e toda a área “verde”, descontrolada e caótica, era vista pejorativamente. Já no final dos anos 70 há uma mudança neste discurso, em direção a uma ecologização.
The objective of this work is to analyze the changes in the imaginary of the local inhabitants especially those changes related to the “green vegetation”, “verde” in Portuguese. Two newspapers were analyzed: O Jornal, from 1954 to 1969, in Maringá – Paraná, and Tribuna do Interior, from 1970 to 2000, in Campo Mourão - Paraná. It was possible to identify that two different ways to present the “green vegetation” in the analyzed newspapers from the second half of 20th century. In the late 70s, there was a “settlers” discourse, in which all the “green vegetation” was believed to be impossible to control and chaotic and with a derogative view. By the end of 70s, there was an abrupt change in their discourse which was more concerned to the environment one.
