Partindo de um texto fantástico de Théophile Gautier, pretendemos abordar a figura feminina de Clarimonde e, mais especificamente, o tema da mulher-demónio, versão fantástica da mulher fatal. O que é de salientar é também a bipolaridade ou a ambivalência da imagem desta mulher, agente principal da atividade sobrenatural, quer seja divina ou demoníaca. A arte da descrição de Théophile Gautier possibilita assimilar duas visões complementares num único retrato: a visão pictórica e a visão sensual.

Starting from a fantastic text of Théophile Gautier, we intend to analyze the female figure of Clarimonde and, more specifically, the theme of woman-demon, fantastic version of femme fatale. We may notice also the bipolarity or the ambivalence of the image of this woman, the main agent of supernatural activity, whether divine or demonic. The art of description of Théophile Gautier assimilate two complementary visions into a single picture: pictorial vision and sensual vision.

Partiendo de un texto fantástico de Théophile Gautier, pretendemos abordar la figura femenina de Clarimonde y, más concretamente, el tema de la mujer demonio, versión fantástica de la mujer fatal. Lo que hay que destacar es también la bipolaridad o la ambivalencia de la imagen de esta mujer, agente principal de la actividad sobrenatural, sea divina o demoníaca. El arte de la descripción de Théophile Gautier permite asimilar dos visiones complementarias en un único retrato: la visión pictórica y la visión sensual.
