A comparative anatomical study of leaves with long petiole and leaves with inflated petiole of Eichhornia crassipes , developed under natural conditions was carried out. The result showed that the long petiole morphological difference, inflated petiole, is related to the volume of air spaces. Environmental factors contribute to this variation.
