In the lentil ( Lens culinaris Medic. Var DF5) the tendril is an extension of the petiole or rachis, comparing the anatomy of the petiole and tendril in temporary and permanent slides. It was concluded that: 1. the thickness of the tendril, the volume of its parenchyma and epidermal cells and its stomatal index are smaller than those of the petiole; 2. The vascular bundles are numbered five in the petiole and three in the tendril; 3. The parenchyma that surrounds the vascular bundles of the tendril is lignified, whereas in the petiole there is no lignification of this tissue.
