Buscou-se investigar o conhecimento e a atitude de universitários da área
da saúde em relação à sexualidade do idoso. Os estudantes mostraram um conhecimento
razoável sobre a sexualidade no envelhecimento e uma atitude relativamente liberal. É
importante o planejamento e a realização de programas que visem a trabalhar
estereótipos e preconceitos em relação à sexualidade na velhice, pois o conhecimento e
a atitude que os futuros profissionais têm sobre a temática podem interferir na sua
atuação profissional.

Resumo Inglês:

Goal – To understand the knowledge and attitudes of university students
specializing in the health care area about sexuality among an elderly population. The
student population has demonstrated a reasonable knowledge of the subject and their
attitude is relatively liberal. Nevertheless it is still important to plan and implement
programs to deal with the stereotypes related to the concept of sexuality in the elderly.
The level of knowledge and existing attitudes towards the subject impacts their
professional performance.
