O presente trabalho constitui-se como uma revisão de literatura do tema “arquivos pessoais” tendo como subsídio as recentes publicações sobre o assunto, principalmente sobre a perspectiva da arquivística. Entende-se que os “arquivos pessoais”, apesar de abarcarem documentos considerados de arquivo, contêm especificidades próprias diferentes dos arquivos institucionais e que devem ser compreendidas por aqueles que atuam e utilizam esse tipo de acervo. Nesse sentido, aborda-se a história dos arquivos pessoais, a diferença entre arquivo privado e arquivo público e as particularidades das tipologias documentais que os arquivos pessoais apresentam. Segue-se o debate sobre os motivos que levam a alguém a preservar os seus documentos, com destaque sobre “escrita de si”, quem deve ter os seus acervos recolhidos aos arquivos públicos, à relação da memória com os arquivos pessoais e o seu legado a sociedade. Finaliza sobre o perigo do “feitiço dos arquivos pessoais” devido à subjetividade na fase de formação de acervo. Longe de sugerir definições definitivas, esse trabalho busca apresentar diferentes perspectivas sobre o tema contribuindo tanto com o desenvolvimento da literatura arquivística como com o conhecimento aos interessados em arquivos pessoais.
The present work constitutes a review of the literature on the theme "personal archives", having as a subsidy the recent publications on the subject, mainly on the archival perspective. It is understood that "personal files", although they cover documents considered as archival, contain specific characteristics different from those of the institutional archives and that must be understood by those who act and use this type of collection. In this sense, we approach the history of personal archives, the difference between private archives and public archives, and the particularities of the documentary typologies that personal archives present. It follows the debate on the reasons that lead someone to preserve their documents, highlighting "self-writing", who should have their collections collected from public archives, the relationship of memory with personal files and their legacy the society. It ends on the danger of the "spell of personal archives" due to subjectivity in the formation phase of the collection. Far from suggesting definitive definitions, this work seeks to present different perspectives on the subject contributing both to the development of the archival literature and to the knowledge to those interested in personal archives.
