As linhas mestras deste estudo são retiradas de um trecho de minha Dissertação
de Mestrado em Filosofia pela UFRJ. Os contornos que assumem aqui são os de uma
apresentação da obra PrincÃpios da Filosofia, de René Descartes (1596–1650); útil,
sobretudo, para o leitor que ainda não teve contato com ela. Para isto, seguindo as
pistas que o próprio autor nos oferece em algumas de suas obras e correspondências,
desejo demonstrar como Descartes concebeu a redação dos PrincÃpios como um
“manual antiescolásticoâ€, que deveria se configurar como uma “Suma filosóficaâ€
(primeira seção do artigo). Em um segundo momento, são expostas as caracterÃsticas do
termo “princÃpioâ€, tal como são encontradas na Carta-Prefácio à edição francesa da
obra (segunda seção).
The master lines of this survey are taken from an excerpt of my Master‘s
Dissertation in the Philosophy Course at UFRJ. The contours assumed here are of an
introduction to the work Principles of Philosophy by Rene Descartes (1596 – 1650); it
is useful especially for the reader that has had no contact with it. Thus, following the
tracks the author himself offers us in some of his works and correspondences I intend
to demonstrate how Descartes conceived the wording of the Principles as an “antischolastic
guide†that should be considered as a “Philosophic Summa†(first section of
the article). In a second moment, the characteristics of the term “principle†are shown,
such as found in the Preface Letter to the French edition of the work (second section).
