A Constituição Federal garante aos brasileiros o pleno exercício da livre-iniciativa como um direito fundamental. Ocorre que esse dispositivo constitucional tem uma das abrangências mais amplas que se tem ao longo de toda a Constituição Federal. O seu pleno exercício, por certo, depende do exato contorno de seu enunciado. Um dos subprodutos dessa livre-iniciativa é a liberdade monetária. O direito do cidadão de exercer a sua liberdade de mercado com base numa moeda estável, previsível e confiável. Definir essa liberdade monetária e inseri-la como parte integrante da livre-iniciativa e da Constituição Econômica é o objetivo desse artigo.

The Federal Constitution guarantees Brazilians the full exercise of free enterprise as a fundamental right. It so happens that this constitutional provision has one of the broadest coverage that exists throughout the entire Federal Constitution. Its full exercise, of course, depends on the exact outline of its statement. One of the by-products of this free enterprise is monetary freedom. The right of citizens to exercise their market freedom based on a stable, predictable and reliable currency. Defining this monetary freedom as an integral part of free enterprise and the Economic Constitution is the purpose of this article.
