Neste artigo busca-se apresentar e discutir um breve levantamento teórico sobre o patrimônio cultural, através de diversos autores, de diferentes áreas do conhecimento, a perpassar pelas questões de origem temporal e etimológica, às definições e conceitos. Isto é, de como e quando o termo foi cunhado, e das questões teóricas que ele, o patrimônio abarca. Assim, busca-se fazer uma apresentação de forma crítica, através de diversas linhas de pensamento, usos e apropriações do termo, sua simbologia e status. Além, expõem-se parte do aparato político, social e econômico que permeia o patrimônio em alguns dos seus matizes, e do processo de edificação.
In this article, we present and discuss a brief theoretical survey of the cultural heritage, through various authors, from different areas of knowledge, through temporal and etymological issues, definitions and concepts. That is, how and when the term was coined, and of the theoretical issues that he, the patrimony encompasses. Thus, it is sought to make a presentation critically, through various lines of thought, uses and appropriations of the term, its symbology and status. In addition, they expose part of the political, social and economic apparatus that permeates the patrimony in some of its shades, and the process of edification.
