CONSTRUÇÕES DE TEMA E CORREFERENCIALIDADE: UMA DESCRIÇÃO FUNCIONALISTA EM TRÊS SINCRONIAS

A partir de uma visão funcionalista da linguagem, mais especificadamente da
Gramática Funcional de Simon Dik (1989, 1997), pretende-se neste artigo mostrar o
funcionamento da correferencialidade na ocorrência de Construções de Tema na interação
verbal por meio de cartas pessoais. Assim, tomando-se a idéia de que a correferencialidade
pode se manifestar nas formas lexicais, pronominais e zero, o texto focaliza a evolução dessas
formas correferenciais em três momentos da língua portuguesa, a saber, séculos XVIII, XIX e
XX. Os dados indicam a tendência, com o passar do tempo, de o Tema não apresentar
correferencialidade com constituintes oracionais, o que pode estar relacionado à mudança no
sistema pronominal de língua portuguesa: diminuição no uso de pronomes clíticos e presença
de anáfora zero.

Resumo Inglês:

From a functionalist point of view, more specificly the Simon Dik’s Functional
Grammar (1989, 1997), we intend in this article to show how the co-referenciality works with
the occurrence of the Theme Constructions in verbal interaction by personal letters. Thus
assuming the idea that the co-referenciality may manifest itself like lexical form, pronominal
form and zero our text focus the evolution of these co-referential forms at three times of
Portuguese, that is, centuries 18th, 19th e 20th. The results denote a tendency, through the time,
for the Theme not to present co-referenciality with clausal constituents, which may be
associated to changes in the Portuguese pronominal system: a diminution in the use of clitic
pronom and presence of zero anaphora.
