O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar as representações do feminino da personagem Gabriela na obra Gabriela, Cravo e Canela (2001), de Jorge Amado, de maneira a caracterizá-la de acordo com o comportamento diante dos dogmas essencialmente patriarcais. Entendemos que a personagem analisada emerge de uma sociedade que se encontra em processo de modernização, na qual costumes arraigados vão sendo subvertidos aos poucos na tessitura da narrativa.

he objective of this work is to analyze the representations of Gabriela's feminine character in Gabriela, Cravo e Canela (2001), by Jorge Amado, so as to characterize it according to the behavior of essentially patriarchal dogmas. We understand that the analyzed character emerges from a society that is in the process of modernization, in which ingrained customs are gradually being subverted in the fabric of the narrative.
