Este artigo tem por objetivo identificar as caracterÃsticas socioeconômicas dos trabalhadores do corte manual da cana-de-açúcar no municÃpio de Mirandópolis-SP, a partir de uma perspectiva de gênero. Mais especificamente, é analisada a conduta das mulheres inseridas nesse contexto profissional dentro do espaço familiar. Quanto ao instrumento de coleta de dados, foram aplicados 40 questionários semiestruturados a homens e mulheres que trabalhavam no corte da cana e residiam no municÃpio em questão. Como resultado, observou-se várias diferenças quanto à s caracterÃsticas pessoais, socioeconômicas e de saúde entre os sexos. As diferenças mais pertinentes foram: a média de idade das mulheres ser superior a dos homens, a produtividade no corte da cana e nÃvel de escolaridade femininas serem menores do que a masculina. Também identificou-se várias mudanças positivas e negativas nas relações intrafamiliares após a inserção das mulheres canavieiras no mercado de trabalho.
This article intends to identify the socio-economical characteristics of the workers in sugar cane manual cut in Mirandópolis City (SP-Brazil), from a gender perspective. More specifically, the conduct of the women inserted in this professional context in the family scope is identified. About the instrument to collect the data, 40 semi-structured questionnaires were administered to men and women that work cutting sugar cane and live in Mirandópolis City. As a result, we have observed various differences about personal and sociocultural characteristics and about the health between the genders. The highlights were: the average age of women is higher than men, the productivity in the sugar cane cutting and female education levels are lower than male. We have also identified various positive and negative changes in the intra-family relationships after the insertion of the women as sugar cane workers in the labour market.
