We read the recent review by Batista Filho ARS et al. including 23 articles focusing the association between the type 2 diabetes with COVID-19 infection, from 2019 to 2022.1 The authors analyzed literature data focusing immunological phenomena in response to physiological and metabolic stress producing the acutephase reactants that can origin a chain of the systemic autonomic, endocrine, hematological, and immunological reactions. Worthy of note, are the comments on the role played by each interrelated pro- and anti-inflammatory steps included in the complex spectrum of the acutephase response.1 Besides, the type 2 diabetes was highlighted as a main risk factor for a worse outcome on the physio-pathological mechanisms involving hyperglycemia in inflammation context, and the age group of patients can play a role on bad prognosis of the clinical case course.1
