Produto do crescimento das cidades e um dos elementos definidores de sua modernização, o subúrbio é um espaço singular na constituição das metrópoles. No Rio de Janeiro, o imaginário relacionado ao conceito carioca de subúrbio passou por uma importante mudança após as reformas urbanas do inÃcio do século XX, que, até hoje, impactam as narrativas situadas nesse território. Este artigo busca analisar como a questão do tempo nas narrativas suburbanas relaciona-se com o imaginário existente sobre esse espaço no Rio de Janeiro.
Being the result of the growth of the cities and one of the defining elements of their modernization, the suburb is a singular space in the constitution of the metropolis. In Rio de Janeiro, the imaginary of the city's concept of “suburb†went through an important change after the urban renovation that took place in the beginning of the 20th century. Up to today, that change affects the stories situated in this territory. This article aims to analyze how the issue of time in these suburban narratives relates to the imaginary surrounding this space in Rio de Janeiro.
