O presente estudo apresenta uma reflexão acerca das relações sociais estabelecidas entre crianças1 e/ou adolescentes que fazem uso de ambientes virtuais e faz parte de estudos desenvolvidos no programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação Ambiental na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande - FURG. Para a apresentação do estudo aqui apresentado foi realizada uma entrevista semi-estruturada com crianças de 10 e 12 anos em um ciber café2 onde as mesmas se encontram frequentemente para jogar e acessar a internet. Argumentamos, neste trabalho, que os ambientes virtuais, dentre outros avanços tecnológicos, acabam por construir outro modo de se relacionar na sociedade. O que essas crianças buscam? Quais são seus interesses nessas ferramentas? Quais os lugares mais acessados? Essas são algumas das questões norteadoras dessa pesquisa. As questões aqui ressaltadas buscam promover discussões acerca das relações sociais que se estabelecem mediadas pela internet. Para pensar estas questões, respalda-se me autores como Christensen e James (2005), M.Castells, (1998), Levy (1999), Antunes (2003), Palfry e Gasser (2011). A discussão aponta para o fato de que esta outra “realidade” produz um “novo” modo de se pensar a sociedade e as relações interpessoais, estando situadas dentro de um paradigma contemporâneo.

This study presents a reflection about the social relations between children and / or adolescents who use virtual environments. The study is part of studies conducted in the Graduate Program in Educação Ambiental of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande - FURG. For the presentation of the study presented here was performed a semi-structured interviews with children aged 10 and 12 years in a cyber cafe where they meet frequently to play and access the internet. In this paper the stronger argument is that in the virtual environments, among other technological advances, end up building another way of relating in society. What do these children look for? What are their interests in these tools? Which places more accessible? These are some of the questions guiding this research. The issues highlighted here seek to promote discussions about the relationships that take place mediated by the Internet. The discussion of this issue is supported by some authors: James Christensen (2005), M. Castells, (1998), Levy (1999), Antunes (2003), Palfry and Gasser (2011). The discussion points to the fact that this other "reality" produces a "new" way of thinking about society and interpersonal relationships, has been situated within a contemporary paradigm.
