Este artigo se propõe a averiguar os sinais de incompatibilidade do poder hegemônico
americano em face de determinadas circunstâncias observadas no período corrente. Embasado nas noções
clássicas de hegemonia, é analisada a capacidade de imposição ideológica pregressa e os primeiros sinais
de autonomia política. Adicionalmente, é discutida a fragilidade econômico-financeira, a qual emerge a
partir do endividamento público e dos déficits fiscais e transacionais. Sob este preâmbulo, é ventilada uma
eventual crise de credibilidade na moeda de referência internacional, o dólar. Como resultados destes
fatores e de outros aspectos relevantes sobre o processo hegemônico, é constatada a perda de poder por
parte dos Estados Unidos.

This paper is proposed to investigate the signs of incompatibility of American hegemonic
power in face of some circumstances observed in the current period. Based on traditional notions of
hegemony, is considered the past ability to impose ideology and the first signs of political autonomy.
Additionally, it discusses the economic and financial fragility, which arises from the public debt, fiscal
and transactional deficits. In this preamble, is considered the possibility of a credibility crisis in the
international currency of reference, the dollar. As a result of these factors and other aspects of the
hegemonic process, the findings suggest a loss of United States power.
