This essay is about the importance of patriarchal thought in the tradition of Cuban family. It choices affairs such as machismo and one of social derivations: the bossism in the XIX century. Especially, the article deals with hegemonic white family inside which grew up a few racists evidences during colonial times, including homophobic practices. The author pretends to make an historical and anthropological vision of the patriarchal family in Cuba and their relationships with social and cultural actuality. The works contribute to make comparative studies in this topic.

Este ensayo trata sobre el peso del pensamiento patriarcal ejercido desde la familia tradicional cubana. Se refiere a cuestiones tales como el machismo y uno de sus consecuentes sociales, el caudillismo en el siglo XIX. De modo especial, el artículo se detiene en el estudio de la familia blanca hegemónica en cuyo interior se gestan múltiples evidencias racistas durante el período colonial, así como prácticas y actitudes homofóbicas. El autor pretende hacer una lectura histórica yantropológica de la familia patriarcal en Cuba y sus nexos con la actualidad social y cultural.
