Este artigo dá continuidade a pesquisa a respeito da Filosofia da Natureza de Kant. Em particular, estudaa questão da existência do éter, a história desse conceito e o que pensavam a respeito Isaac Newton e Immanuel Kant. O conceito parece teoricamente justificado, para a época, mesmo na ausência de provas materiais que comprovem sua existência. A primeira parte deste texto, portanto, efetuará uma breve reconstituição da história do éter, a partir de Whittaker (1973). A segunda parte abordará a concepção de Newton a respeito do éter. A terceira parte, enfim, tratará da concepção de Kant, especialmente no texto inacabado “Transição dos princípios metafísicos da ciência da natureza para a Física”, contido noOpus postumum. A conclusão efetuará um balanço da pesquisa efetuada, incluindo textos anteriormente publicados.

This paper is the follow up of a research on Kant‟s philosophy of nature. In special, studies the issue of the existence of aether, the history of this concept and what thought about it Isaac Newton and Immanuel Kant. This concept seems to be theoretically justified, for that time, even if there are no material proofs of its existence. The first part, then, will show a brief reconstitution of the history of aether, following Whittaker (1973). The second part will examine the conception of Newton about the aether. The third part, finally, will see the conception of Kant on the aether, especially in his uncompleted work “Transition from the metaphysical principles of the science of nature to Physics”, which is part of his Opus postumum. The conclusion will make a general assessment of the present research so far.
