Este artigo é uma breve reflexão sobre as transformações ocorridas na dança
siriri, analisando-se, principalmente, as relações de poder entre os integrantes de alguns
grupos da dança e o poder polÃtico em Cuiabá, capital de Mato Grosso, Brasil. Ao
saÃrem de suas comunidades e virem para os centros das cidades, esses atores sociais
assumem novas posturas no contexto contemporâneo da cultura, interagem com outros
campos sociais e, assim, modificam e dão novo significado as suas manifestações
culturais e aos seus próprios papéis nas polÃticas culturais.
This paper is a short reflection about transformations in the siriri’s dance,
analyzing, principally, the power’s relations between the participating of siriri’s group
and the government in Cuiabá, principal city of Mato Grosso, Brazil. This article aims
to show the transition suffered by the popular’s sectors from 2000’s. When they leave
their communities and come to the town centers, these social’s actors take another
position in the context of contemporary culture, interact with others social fields, and
so, modify and give a new mean to their culture expressions and to their own roles in
the cultural politics.
