Este texto tem como objetivo discutir as relações de poder no
oeste de Minas Gerais. Investiga o
funcionamento das principais estratégias de dominação utilizadas pelos
lÃderes locais, embora não se encerram
ao lugar especÃfico analisado. Aqueles,
em sua prática polÃtica se apóiam em
redes familiares, na gestão da memória
e na dependência econômica, na manipulação e na violência fÃsica e simbólica. Para tanto, foi necessário revisitar
não apenas as estratégias polÃticas no
âmbito público e privado, registradas
em diferentes fontes históricas como
os jornais locais, as correspondências
privadas e os documentos oficiais. Os
resultados encontrados apontam para
a necessidade de reconsiderar a forma
como a historiografia tem tratado o
tema, sugerindo-se a atenção a outras
escalas de análise e a reconsideração
do papel ativo dos grupos ditos dominados no funcionamento da polÃtica
local marcada pelo clientelismo, pelas
relações privatistas e pela desconsideração do bem público.
This paper aims to discuss
the power relations in western Minas Gerais. Investigates the operation
of the main strategies of domination
used by local leaders, but are not limited to the specific location analyzed.
Those in their political practice rely
on family networks, the memory management and economic dependence,
handling and physical and symbolic
violence. Therefore, it was necessary
to revisit not only the strategies police
in public and private sectors, using different historical sources such as local
newspapers, private correspondence
and official documents. The results
point to the need to reconsider how
the historiography has treated the
subject, suggesting that attention to
other scales of analysis and reconsideration of the active role of the dominated groups said the functioning
of local politics marked by patronage,
relations privates and disregard the
notion of what is public.
