Tendo como ponto inicial uma carta denúncia remetida ao Tribunal do Santo OfÃcio de Lisboa, busca-se analisar rituais de cura no Sertão do Ceará no século XVIII. Nesse sentido, o artigo procura discutir a presença de diferentes percepções de realidades: a “ilustração†pombalina, o pensamento religioso contra-reformista, o imaginário que permeava os sabás europeus e elementos culturais dos povos indÃgenas cearenses.
Taking as a starting point a complaint letter
sent to the Court of the Inquisition of Lisbon
seeks to examine healing rituals in the
hinterland of Ceará in the eighteenth century.
In this sense, the article discusses the
presence of different perceptions of realities:
the "illustration" Pombal, the Counter-
Reformation religious thought, the imagery
that permeated the Sabatt and European
cultural elements of indigenous peoples from
Ceará.
