O século XIV conheceu uma das maiores tragédias já vividas pela humanidade:
a Peste Negra, que assolou a Europa a partir de 1348 com uma intensidade jamais vista e
deixou profundas marcas que influenciaram os séculos posteriores. Esse acontecimento foi
narrado por Giovanni Boccaccio na sua obra Decameron. O presente estudo pretende fazer
algumas considerações a respeito da relação entre a peste e o texto de Boccaccio.
The XIV century knew one of the biggest tragedies that the humanity
already lived: the Black Pest, that haunted the whole Europe after 1348 with an intensity
that had not sight yet and leaved deep signs that influenced the subsequent centuries. That
happening was narrated by Giovanni Boccaccio in his Decameron production. This study
intends to make some considerations about the relation between the Pest and Boccaccio’s
text.
