This work aims to present a field of cultural investigation, Postcolonial
Trauma Sutdies, that has been gaining ground in the contemporary
academic scenario. The research presents a brief account of the
development of Trauma Studies, from psychoanalysis to more recent
appropriations of the concept of trauma by postcolonial researchers, in an
attempt to situate the reader in this field of investigation and to reflect on
its possible contributions to literary studies.
