O artigo apresenta resultados de um estudo cujo objetivo foi caracterizar a base orientadora da ação "explicar propriedades das substâncias e de materiais" com licenciandos de Química. O diagnóstico e a caracterização da orientação inicial da ação são condições necessárias para sua formação ou atualização segundo a teoria de P. Ya. Galperin, que compreende a aprendizagem como internalização da orientação da nova ação ou de conceitos que permite ao estudante planejá-la, executá-la e regulá-la, segundo etapas planejadas pelo professor. Para tanto, usou-se de uma Prova Pedagógica e as respostas dos licenciandos foram comparadas com o modelo do Esquema da Base de Orientação Completa da Ação definida pelo professor. Os resultados revelaram dificuldades na compreensão sobre a ação em estudo, para explicitar de forma consciente o que é a ação e sua estrutura operacional, o que se revelou numa orientação limitada na solução de uma tarefa que demandava a ação "explicar propriedades das substâncias e de materiais".

The article presents results of a study whose objective was to characterize the guiding base of the action "explain properties of substances and materials" with chemistry graduates.The diagnosis and characterization of the initial orientation of the action are necessary conditions for its formation or updating according to the theory of P. Ya. Galperin, who understands learning as the internalization of the orientation of the new action or concepts that allows the student to plan, execute and regulate it according to steps planned by the teacher. For that, the study applied a Pedagogical Testand the graduate answers were compared with the teacher's Schema for Complete Orienting Basis of Actions. The results revealed difficulties in understanding the action under study, in order to consciously explain what the action and its operational structure were which was revealed in a limited orientation in the solution of a task that demanded the action "explain properties of substances and materials".
