This article aims to defend the idea that the case of Varginha’s ET, as it is told and known by the population of Varginha and neighboring towns, is a mythical story. In order to do that, it analyses the case of Varginha’s ET under a philosophical, political and linguistic point of view, concluding that this story, as it is told around presents, under many aspects, characteristics of a mythical story.
