DIGNIDADE, DIREITOS E CUIDADO: UMA LEITURA ECOTEOLÓGICA

Constatada a urgência ecológica de uma nova relação do ser humano com as outras criaturas, o artigo busca compreender a constituição de direitos e, na sua base, a categoria de dignidade. Para tanto, analisa a linguagem sobre a dignidade e um percurso histórico sobre a ampliação de reconhecimento de dignidade e direitos humanos. A partir dos animais, testa um reconhecimento alargado desses dois conceitos cada vez mais assimétricos. Dessa forma, a relação se transforma na gratuidade e na responsabilidade do Cuidado, assimétrico e interdependente, que configura, assim, um novo humanismo ecológico. Com Leonardo Boff e o Papa Francisco, o artigo sublinha as consequências dessa postura e os elementos teológico-pastorais de prática cristã do Cuidado.

Given the ecological urgency of a new relationship between human beings and other creatures, this article seeks to understand the constitution of rights and, at its core, the category of dignity. To do so, it analyzes the language of dignity and a historical journey on the expansion of the recognition of dignity and human rights. Starting from animals, it tests an expanded recognition of these two concepts, which are increasingly asymmetrical. In this way, the relationship is transformed into gratuitousness and responsibility for asymmetrical and independent Care, which thus configures a new ecological humanism. Drawing on the work of Leonardo Boff and Pope Francis, the article underlines the consequences of this stance and the theological-pastoral elements of the Christian practice of Care.
