The right to peace today has a greater amplitude than its construction in the course of history, because in the last year and a half even pandemics are considered wars, now waged against invisible enemies to the great majority of the human species. This observation denotes the extent to which wars are rooted in the culture of humanity. This article deals with the evolution of the right to peace together with humanitarian law, until the consolidation by the League of Nations and later that with the United Nations, going through the social doctrine of the church expressed in the Encyclical Letter Pacem in terris, concluding with a reflection on education to achieve a culture of preventive peace.
