Quando se considera o discurso como uma prática social, levando em conta sua forte relação com a dimensão social, nota-se que o componente discursivo da linguagem pode revelar como a sociedade trata um dado tema. Nessa perspectiva, o propósito deste trabalho é refletir, a partir das considerações da Análise Crítica do Discurso (ACD) e da teoria da Linguística multifuncional de Halliday (2004), sobre como se dá a representação do preconceito homossexual em reportagens das revistas Veja e Época. Considerando a relação dialética entre linguagem e sociedade, observam-se, nessas reportagens, elementos semióticos que revelam relações sociais e valores culturais que reforçam tabus da sociedade em relação aos direitos sexuais.
When the speech is considered as a social practice, considering its substantial relationship with the social dimension, it’s noticed that discursive component language can reveal how society deals with a given theme. Thus, the purpose of this work is to reflect, from the considerations of critical discourse analysis (CDA) and multifunctional Linguistic theory by Halliday (2004), about howthe representations of homosexual prejudice are in reports from Veja and Época magazines. Considering the dialectics relationship between language and society, there are in these reports semiotic elements that present social relations and cultural values, reinforcing society's taboos concerning sexual rights
