Este artigo busca refletir sobre como a desconexão da classe política das necessidades reais da po-pulação tem comprometido a efetivação dos direitos fundamentais no Brasil contemporâneo. A análise aborda a discrepância entre os problemas sociais urgentes e os elevados gastos de manutenção do Poder Legislativo, suge-rindo que a luta pelo poder e a manutenção de privilégios têm levado muitos representantes eleitos a perderem a percepção da realidade vivida por seus eleitores. A pesquisa, baseada em dados anteriores à pandemia de Co-vid-19, evidencia que essa desconexão resulta na negligência de ações necessárias para a preservação dos direitos fundamentais, prejudicando a população que legitimou esses representantes. O estudo destaca a importância de uma reavaliação da estrutura política e dos gastos públicos para melhor atender às demandas sociais, enfatizando a necessidade de uma representatividade política mais alinhada com as necessidades e aspirações da população.
This article seeks to reflect on how the disconnection of the political class from the real needs of the population has compromised the implementation of fundamental rights in contemporary Brazil. The analy-sis addresses the discrepancy between urgent social problems and the high maintenance costs of the Legislative Power, suggesting that the struggle for power and the maintenance of privileges have led many elected representa-tives to lose touch with the reality experienced by their constituents. The research, based on data from before the Covid-19 pandemic, shows that this disconnection results in the neglect of necessary actions for the preservation of fundamental rights, harming the population that legitimized these representatives. The study highlights the importance of reevaluating the political structure and public expenditures to better meet social demands, empha-sizing the need for political representation that is more aligned with the needs and aspirations of the population.
