O artigo analisa textos comprometidos com a história de municÃpios mineiros e goianos vizinhos a BrasÃlia (DF), contrastando-os com uma imagem frequente sobre BrasÃlia no imaginário nacional – a da capital modernista construÃda sobre espaços vazios de cultura e civilização. Consideram-se textos vinculados à tradição histórico-memorialista dos municÃpios, e a representação de personagens e espaços que indicam a centralidade do municÃpio, a pertença à nação e sua relação com outros lugares descritos pela retórica do parentesco. Ao contrário do vazio, percebe-se uma cultura escrita que retrata os municÃpios como aqueles que, pela via do sacrifÃcio, ofereceram tempo e espaço à nova capital.
The article analyses texts committed with the history of municipalities of Minas Gerais and Goiás, in the region surrounding the federal capital, in contrast with a current image of Brasilia in the nation’s imaginary – a modern city built upon empty spaces of culture and civilization. The article deals with literary texts linked to historical/memorial tradition of the municipalities, and the representation of characters and spaces pointing to the centrality of municipality, its relation to the nation and other places, described through the language of kinship. Contrary to the emptiness, one founds a written culture that represents the municipalities as those which, through their sacrifice, offered space and time to the new capital.
