Este trabalho apresenta, em versão bilíngüe, latim-português, a tradução de
fontes manuscritas que documentam parte da trajetória histórica de uma das mais
recorrentes modalidades de poder do mundo feudal: a investidura laica. Os documentos
aqui publicados foram selecionados segundo sua vinculação a um processo histórico de
significativas repercussões no pensamento político medieval e nas relações entre
regnum e sacerdotium. Referimo-nos aos duradouros embates entre papado e império
pelo poder de investir clérigos em suas dignidades eclesiásticas, que culminaram na
concessão do documento pontifício conhecido como “Privilégio da Ponte Mammolo”,
ou simplesmente “Privilegium Paschalis II”, ao rei dos germânicos em abril de 1111.

Resumo Inglês:

This work presents, in bilingual version Latin-Portuguese, the translation of
manuscript sources that register part of the historical trajectory of one of the most
recurrent modalities of power of the feudal world: the laica investiture. The documents
published here had been selected as its entailing to a historical process of significant
repercussions in the medieval political thought and on the relations between regnum and
sacerdotium. We refer to the lasting conflicts between the papacy and the empire for the
power to invest clergymen in theirs ecclesiastical dignities that had culminated in the
concession of the pontifical document known as “Privilege of Ponte Mammolo” or just
“Privilegium Paschalis II” to the king of the Germanics in April of 1111.
