Resumo Português:
A Constituição do país ordena que se deva promover a educação ambiental. Outras normas garantem o devido acesso à informação, pelos cidadãos, sobre o meio ambiente, que devem o Poder Público dispor, bem como suas políticas públicas. Este estudo teve como objetivo responder à seguinte questão: O poder público do município de Vilhena tem estimulado a conscientização e a participação pública, divulgando ou facilitando o acesso às informações ambientais à disposição do cidadão e promovendo educação ambiental na sua rede de ensino? Foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental após analisar a legislação correlata, seguida de pesquisa de campo, com aplicação das técnicas de questionário e entrevista. Concluiu-se pela pouca divulgação e promoção da educação e informação ambiental no nível do poder executivo municipal.

The country's constitution ordains that we should promote environmental education. Other standards guarantee the due access to information by citizens, about the environment, that should the public power available, as well as its public policies. This study aimed to answer the following question: The public power of the municipality of Vilhena has stimulated awareness and public participation, disseminating or facilitating the access to environmental information available to the citizen and promoting environmental education in their school network? It was performed a bibliographic research and documentary after analyzing the legislation introduction, followed by field research, with application of the techniques of questionnaire and interview. It was concluded that the little dissemination and promotion of environmental education and information on the level of municipal executive power.
