Resumo Português:

O presente artigo aborda questões relativas à construção, à
constituição e ao resgate da identidade de jovens e adultos em função
das relações que se estabelecem nos territórios em que circulam,
vivem, sobrevivem e aprendem a estar no mundo e, estando nele,
lê-lo. A condição “popular” apresentada nesse contexto diz respeito
ao fato de que os jovens e adultos mais pobres são os que estão
diretamente ligados à Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA), ainda
que a expressão “educação popular” extrapole essa questão e
possa referir-se à educação pensada e realizada para as camadas
mais pobres da sociedade que, não por acaso, se referem à maioria
da população mundial. Na contemporaneidade, o território – como
“lugar” onde se estabelecem as relações sociais – se constitui como
local geográfico da ação, da atuação, dos sujeitos sociais, imerso
nas condições asseguradas pelas próprias relações entre indivíduos,
grupos e tribos que ali se desenrolam. Lugar de interações dialógicas
e dialéticas entre crianças, jovens, adultos e idosos, o território
também é lugar de ensinar-e-aprender e de aprender-e-ensinar, onde
educadores e educandos trocam suas experiências, seus saberes e
inter-relacionam suas subjetividades.

Resumo Inglês:

This article discusses issues concerning the construction, the
constitution and the redemption of the identity of youth and adults
according to the relations established in the territories of operation,
where they live, survive and learn to be in the world, and, being in
it, learn how to read it. The “popular” condition presented in this
context concerns to the fact that the poorest youths and adults are
those who are directly related to The Youth and Adult Education
(EJA), even though the term “popular education” goes beyond this
issue and can refer to the education conceived and carried out to
the poorest sections of society which, not incidentally, refer to the
majority of the world population. Nowadays, the territory - as a “place”
where social relations are established - is constituted as a geographic
location of the social subjects’ action and actuation, when immersed
in the conditions ensured by the relations among individuals, groups
and tribes that are developed there. Place of dialectical and dialogic
interactions among children, youths, adults and seniors, the territory is
also the place to teach-and-learning and learning-and-teaching, where
teachers and students exchange their experiences, their knowledge
and interrelate their subjectivities.
