O presente artigo analisa as eleições municipais de 2024 em Araucária-PR, com foco na disputa pelo Executivo e na composição da nova legislatura da Câmara Municipal. A partir de dados oficiais do IBGE, TRE-PR e TSE, além de referenciais teóricos, examina-se a história da cidade, o perfil do eleitorado, o perfil das candidaturas e como o sistema político-eleitoral reproduz desigualdades estruturais de gênero, raça e classe. Embora o pleito tenha sido marcado por uma pluralidade formal de candidaturas, observa-se a permanência de padrões tradicionais de poder, com predominância de homens brancos e ausência de mulheres eleitas. Ao refletir sobre os limites da representatividade e os mecanismos de exclusão institucionalizados, o artigo aponta para a urgência de repensar práticas políticas, institucionais e culturais que sustentam a desigualdade democrática no nível local
This article analyzes the 2024 municipal elections in Araucária (PR), focusing on the race for the Executive branch and the composition of the new City Council legislature. Drawing on official data from IBGE, TRE-PR, and TSE, as well as theoretical frameworks, the study examines the city’s history, the profile of the electorate and the candidates, and how the political-electoral system reproduces structural inequalities related to gender, race, and class. Although the election featured a formal plurality of candidacies, traditional power structures persisted, marked by the predominance of white men and the absence of elected women. By reflecting on the limits of political representation and the institutional mechanisms of exclusion, the article highlights the urgent need to rethink political, institutional, and cultural practices that sustain democratic inequality at the local level
