Preso no Rio de Janeiro em 1971 por envolvimento direto em movimentos de guerrilha, contrabandeava (para o lado de fora!) das prisões por onde passou as poesias que escrevia, denunciando os horrores vividos no cárcere. Várias delas, à época, publicadas pela Anistia Internacional e apreciadas por cÃrculos acadêmicos europeus e latino-americanos engajados na defesa dos direitos humanos. Seus versos foram reunidos nos livros Inventário de cicatrizes (1975) e Camarim de prisioneiro (1980). Com a promulgação da Lei da Anistia (1979), vem gozando desde 1980 “esse estranho direito de ir e vir/ sem levar um pau†– como ele próprio já versou. Atualmente, atua como lÃder de comunidades aglomeradas em torno dos rituais do Santo Daime.

He currently serves as the leader of communities clustered around the rituals of the Santo Daime.
