O texto compõe-se de duas partes: 1) uma introdução sobre Ernst Tugendhat, seu percurso e seu trabalho, bem como seu envolvimento com o ensino da filosofia entre nós; e 2) um depoimento do filósofo alemão sobre o ensino de filosofia na universidade, apresentando suas opiniões e sua vasta experiência a respeito. Para ele, como para o introdutor, em vez de resumir-se essencialmente ao aprendizado da história da filosofia e à leitura dos grandes filósofos, o ensino dessa disciplina – algo como uma “arte†– deveria incluir, desde o começo, o exercÃcio da argumentação sobre temas e problemas e a redação de textos curtos nessa linha.

This paper is composed of two sections: 1) a general introduction about Ernst Tugendhat, his career and his works, as well as about his involvement with the subject of philosophy teaching in Brazil; and 2) a long statement by the German philosopher on teaching philosophy – for him, an “art†– in the university, including his varied experience and his opinions on the subject. According to him – and to the introducer likewise –, instead of limiting oneself to teaching history of philosophy and reading the great philosophers, a philosophy teacher should – from the start – engage students in the practical work of arguing about topics and problems, and in writing short papers along the same line.
