Pretende-se, aqui, rastrear a presença de Camões na obra de Camilo, tentando contextualizá-la e interpretá-la à luz de fatores coletivos e individuais.
In 2025 we celebrate bicentenary of the birth of Camilo Castelo Branco. It also marks the 5th centenary of the birth of Luís de Camões. Coincidentally, the poem that Almeida Garrett dedicated to the Epic, a landmark in the introduction of Romanticism in Portugal, was first published in 1825. What image of Camões permeates Camilo’s abundant pages? Is it the Camões of Garrett and of Romanticism? The aim here is to trace the presence of Camões in Camilo’s work, attempting to contextualize and interpret it in the light of collective and individual factors.
