This article does a comparison between the short stories ―El Remanso‖ and
―La última tarde‖, published by Silvina Ocampo, respectively in Viaje
olvidado (1937) and La furia (1959), the poems El gaúcho Martin Fierro
and La vuelta de MartÃn Fierro, published by José Hernández in 1872 and
1879, and the short story ―La intrusa‖, published by Jorge Luis Borges
primarily in 1960. The aim of this comparison is to examine the Ocampo‘s
process of re-signification of the ―house‖ and ―family‖ as elements of
composition of cultural identity of gaúcho.
