Perspectivas funcionais
em estudos da linguagem têm sido
amplamente consideradas nos últimos 40
anos, pelo menos. Nesse sentido, é possÃvel
nos referirmos a um grande número de
pesquisadores que se debruçaram sobre
a investigação da linguagem sob essa
perspectiva. Considerando seu apelo
constante no âmbito acadêmico, o presente
trabalho tem como objetivo descrever e
comparar duas abordagens funcionais nos
estudos linguÃsticos: a teoria funcionalista
da linguagem de Jakobson e a LinguÃstica
Sistêmico-Funcional de Halliday a fim
de revelar até que ponto uma abordagem
difere de ou corrobora a outra.
Functional perspectives
in language studies have been widely
considered in the last 40 years, at least.
In this sense, it is possible to refer to a
number of scholars who have attempted
to investigate language through this
perspective. Considering their ubiquitous
appeal in the academic scenario, the
present study aims at describing and
comparing two functional approaches in
language studies: Jakobson’s functional
theory of language and Halliday’s
systemic-functional linguistics in order to
reveal to what extent one approach differs
from or conforms to the other.
