O presente artigo procura
apresentar uma das muitas faces
da história das monções setecentistas
do Mato Grosso. Nele, será buscado
apresentar o papel que o mundo
sobrenatural com seus personagens,
mitos, fantasmas e acontecimentos,
desempenhou na explicação de
problemas e soluções no cotidiano
monçoeiro. As fontes utilizadas são
baseadas em relatos de viajantes das
monções e representantes do Estado
Português, que buscavam descrever e
mapear as rotas monçoeiras.
The current article aims
to introduce one of the many faces of
the 1700’s monções in Mato Grosso.
Thus, we intend to show the role of
supernatural world with its characters,
myths, phantoms and happenings in
explaining the problems and solutions
of monçoeiro daily life. The sources
used are based on monçoeiros travelers’
stories and representatives of the
Portuguese State, whose objective
was to describe and to map the monçoeiras
routes.
