A distinção entre o dizer e o mostrar ocupa um lugar central no desenvolvimento da crÃtica da linguagem empreendida pelo primeiro Wittgenstein. Partindo do pressuposto que o sistema de numeração do Tractatus assinala (apesar de todas as controvérsias existentes) certa estrutura argumentativa do livro, o presente texto possui dois objetivos: (1) situar o grupo de proposições que versam sobre o tema do solipsismo (5.6 à 5.641) dentro dessa estrutura; e (2) mostrar que o local onde essas proposições se encontram faz parte de uma estratégia argumentativa de Wittgenstein, uma vez que é nela onde encontramos o clÃmax da distinção entre aquilo que pode ser dito e aquilo que deve ser mostrado.
The distinction between saying and showing is central in the development of critical language made by the early Wittgenstein. Assuming that the numbering system of the Tractatus points (despite all the controversies) to certain argumentative structure of the book, this text has two goals: (1) locate the group of propositions that deal with the issue of solipsism (5.6 to 5641) within that structure, and (2) show that the place where these propositions are part of an argumentative strategy of Wittgenstein, since it is where we find the climax of the distinction between what can be said and what should be shown.
