This work aims to analyze the environmental quality d the urban area of Salto do Jacuí - Rio Grande do Sul, which is localizad to the northwest of the state in the basin of the Upper Jacuí. The analysis was carried out by mapping negative characteristics that would compromise the quality of the urban environment: land use, pollution, free spaces, buildings verticality, flood points, population density and vegetation cover. The mapping of the negative attributes and the subsequent crossing of maps determined the urban environmental quality . They were executed in the ArcGIS10 geoprocessing software. To make the cardswas used as base the satellite image of the Google Earth Software, after being georeferenced, the free spaces, land use and vegetation cover (floristic deserts) were identified, mapped and quantified. For the other letters were performed s field work and observations.
