ESPAÇO RURAL NA REGIÃO DA CAMPANHA GAÚCHA: TERRITORIALIDADES E DESENVOLVIMENTO. O CASO DO ASSENTAMENTO CONQUISTA DO CAIBOATÉ, SÃO GABRIEL- RS

O universo do espaço rural na região da Campanha Gaúcha apresenta uma
diversidade que se configura a partir dos agentes sociais que se apropriam desse espaço e
transformam-no em território. Contudo, a dominação do capitalismo sobre o espaço rural em
questão impõe a conflitualidade entre modelos de desenvolvimento distintos a partir de
diferentes territorialidades. Neste trabalho discute-se os sentidos desses modelos a partir de
duas territorialidades: a territorialidade do latifúndio e agronegócio e a territorialidade
emergente dos assentamentos rurais, com ênfase no Assentamento Conquista do Caiboaté,
implementado em 2008, no município de São Gabriel- RS. A reflexão sobre essas realidades é
estabelecida a partir de uma abordagem que leva em consideração as contradições e as
dinâmicas nas quais estão inseridas. Tal investigação possibilita inferir que o espaço rural da
Campanha Gaúcha incorpora o processo de desenvolvimento geográfico desigual do
capitalismo de maneira singular, em que a territorialidade do latifúndio e do agronegócio se
configura como hegemônica. Por sua vez, a territorialidade dos assentamentos rurais, ao
buscar construir alternativas no que diz respeito a viver e a produzir na terra de trabalho,
caracteriza-se como uma territorialidade contra-hegemônica, a partir da qual se constroem
estratégias que se movimentam em direção à perspectiva de um modelo de desenvolvimento
territorial rural sustentável, como se verifica no caso do Assentamento Conquista do
Caiboaté.

Resumo Inglês:

The universe of the rural space in the region of the Campanha Gaucha presents a
diversity that is configured from the social agents that appropriate this space and transform
it in territory. However, the domination of the capitalism over the rural space concerned
imposes the conflictuality between different models of development from different
territoriality. In this paper it are discussed the meanings of these models from two
territorialities: the territoriality of latifundia and agribusiness and the emerging territoriality
of rural settlements, with emphasis on the Settlement of Conquista do Caiboaté,implemented in 2008 in the municipality of São Gabriel-RS. The reflecting about these
realities is established from an approach that takes into account the contradictions and the
dynamics in which they are inserted. An investigation like that enables to infer that the rural
space of the Campanha Gaucha incorporates the process of unequal geographical
development of the capitalism uniquely, in which the territoriality of latifundia and of
agribusiness it is configured as hegemonic. In turn, the territoriality of the rural settlements,
seeking to build alternatives with regard to live and to produce in the land of work, it is
characterized as a counter-hegemonic territoriality, from which are built strategies that
move toward to the perspective of a model of sustainable rural territorial development, like
in the case of the Settlement Conquista do Caiboaté.
