O presente trabalho analisa as considerações do filósofo francês Paul Ricoeur sobre o Esquecimento, as quais são resultantes de uma hermenêutica da memória e de uma epistemologia da história. Ricoeur sugere que, na cultura ocidental, desde Descartes, há uma empatia pelo “esquecimento metódicoâ€, cujo sentido e articulação expõem a condição polÃtica das representações e das formulações da memória coletiva, para além de uma retórica da perda e do apagamento. Daà a tensão estabelecida pelo pensador entre o esquecimento definitivo e o esquecimento de reserva, caros à s especulações operadas dentro dos conceitos de história e de arquivo.
Possible Fortgetfulness: the hermeneutic memory of Paul Ricoeur. This work
analyzes the considerations of the French Philosopher Paul Ricoeur about the
Forgetfulness resulting from a hermeneutic memory and history epistemology. Ricoeur
suggests that in the occidental culture, since Descartes, that there is empathy for the
“methodic forgetfulnessâ€, the sense and articulation of which show the political
condition of the representations and formulations of the collective memory to farther
than rhetoric of loss and extinction. Hence, the tension established by the philosopher
between the definite forgetfulness and the reserve forgetfulness, dear to the speculations
operated within the concepts of history and archive.
