ESTÁ RINDO DE QUE? O sentido da punição em charges jornalísticas

Analisando dois jornais publicados em Presidente Prudente (SP) como fonte de pesquisa para a temática “Representações sociais dos novos presídios do Oeste Paulista”, percebemos a importância de uma linguagem já há muito utilizada, as charges. Como um recurso de comicidade, estas revelaram em seu conteúdo tanto representações punitivas, quanto representações do cotidiano e do meio social interno aos muros das penitenciárias. Imagens caóticas estão sempre presentes e a representação de presídios ligados à violência é expressa de forma extremada. Tendo como foco a produção do espaço urbano, este texto se volta à análise do trabalho de dois chargistas, Clauro (do jornal “O Imparcial”) e André Barboza (do jornal “Oeste Notícias”) e no papel desempenhado pelas charges, sobre as mudanças nas representações da insegurança urbana em Presidente Prudente, a partir da implantação da nova política penitenciária paulista, iniciada em 1.995, pelo Governador Mario Covas, e continuada por seus sucessores.

Analyzing two newspapers of Presidente Prudente (SP) as research reference to the Social Representation to new penitentiaries in the west of São Paulo State” theme, we realised the importance of a long utilized language, the cartoon. With a feature of funny, the cartoons revealed themselves both as representations of punishment and representations of the routine and social way under the walls of the prisons. Chaotic pictures are always present and the representation of prisons interconnected to violence is expressed in extreme condition. With the focus in the production of urban space, this article analyzed the production of two cartoonists, Clauro (from the “O Imparcial” newspaper) and André Barboza (from the “Oeste Notícias” newspaper) and the role fulfilled about the changes in the representations of urban insecurity in Presidente Prudente, since the implementation of the new politic plan of prisons from São Paulo State, initially implemented in 1995, by governor Mario Covas and continued by his successors.
