Objetivo: Demonstrar a criação de um modelo de estágio extracurricular e refletir sobre a importância do currículo em paralelo para a formação médica. Materiais e Métodos: O estágio extracurricular ocorreu na UTI adulta do HELGJ, em Valença –RJ, em 2017. No edital específico, os acadêmicos foram selecionados pela participação na LAEMI do curso Medicina, um total de dez participantes de diferentes períodos. Houve uma reunião para planejamento das atividades e capacitação dos estagiários. Os plantões, com carga horaria de 12 horas, ocorriam semanalmente de acordo com a escala, sendo alguns em duplas e outros realizados individualmente, respeitando as exigências da Lei nº 11.788, de 25 de setembro de 2008, com duração de cinco meses e carga horaria total de 240 horas (20 plantões).Resultados: O estágio na UTI permitiu o contato com o paciente grave, dando oportunidade aos alunos de participar da equipe multiprofissional, acompanhar e realizar procedimentos sob supervisão e discussão dos casos. Os plantões em dupla, permitiram uma troca de experiências entre os alunos. Conclusão: É notória a importância do currículo paralelo, visando se diferenciar futuramente no mercado de trabalho e o estágio supervisionado é uma estratégia fidedigna da realidade médica.

Objective-To demonstrate the creation of an extracurricular extacio model, and to reflect on the importance of curriculum in parallel to medical education. Materials and Methods-The extracurricular stage occurred in the adult ICU of HELGJ, in Valença, RJ, in 2017. In the specific edict, the academics were selected for participation in the LAEMIof Medicine course, a total of ten participants from different periods. There was a meeting to plan the activities and training of trainees. The shifts, with a workload of12 hours, occurred weekly according to the scale, some of which were in pairs and others were performed individually, in compliance with the requirements of Law No. 11,788, dated September 25, 2008, with a duration of five months and a workload total of 240 hours (20 shifts). Results-The ICU internship allowed the contact with the severe patient, giving the students the opportunity to participate in the multiprofessional team, to follow up and perform procedures under supervision and discussion of the cases. The double shifts allowed an exchange of experiences among the students. Conclusion-The importance of the parallel curriculum is significant, aiming to differentiate in the future in the labor market and the supervised internship is a reliable strategy of the medical reality.
