This work focuses on some systems of partial differential equations of the hyperbolic type, emphasizing its asymptotic behavior. A comparative analysis was made between a hyperbolic system describing an inhomogeneous medium and another describing a homogeneous medium; this correspondence is allowed because of the existence of so-called wave operators.
Several important examples of physics-mathematics are presented and the central theorem of this work, on the existence of wave operators, was applied to the models.
