O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar quais impactos ambientais decorrentes da expansão urbana nos últimos dez anos no município de Marechal Cândido Rondon - Paraná. A expansão urbana é um dos agravantes no processo de degradação do meio ambiente, tendo em vista que um dos fatores para essa expansão nos últimos anos neste município está relacionado à especulação imobiliária. Esse crescimento vem gerando inúmeros processos de desapropriação de terras agrícolas, diversos problemas ambientais, sociais, econômicos, estruturais e também os chamados vazios urbanos. Além disso, observa-se que o número de habitantes não aumentou consideravelmente para que houvesse a necessidade de tamanha expansão. Desta forma, a fim de evitar ocupações irregulares e uso incorreto do solo, a administração pública desse município adequou-se às leis federais que dispõe sobre o parcelamento de solos, elaborando novo Plano Diretor (instrumento básico de um processo de planejamento municipal para a implantação da política de desenvolvimento urbano). Neste sentido, nota-se que os dados e documentos apresentados demonstram o grau de reflexão que o município possui sobre a relação existente entre a expansão urbana promovida e os impactos ambientais gerados.

The objective of this work is to present what are the environmental impacts resulting of the urban expansion in the last ten years at the city of Marechal Cândido Rondon – Paraná. The urban expansion is one of the aggravating in the process of environmental degradation, in view that one of the factors for that city’s expansion in last few years is related to real state speculation. This growth has been generating countless rural lands expropriation lawsuits, environmental, social, economic and structural problems, and the called urban vacuous, Besides, it has been observed that the number of inhabitants hasn’t considerably increased so that it would be necessary an expansion of this magnitude. In this manner, seeking to avoid irregular occupation and irregular usage of soil, the public administration of this city has adjusted to the federal laws that lay out about land installment, generating the new Director Plan (basic instrument of a city planning process for the implementation of urban development policies). In that sense, it is noted that the data and documents presented demonstrate the degree of reflexion that the city possess over the existing relationship between promoted urban expansion and the environmental impact generated.
